Business - Spirit of Innovation

My engineering and innovation work includes founding and running Spirit of Innovation, an engineering technology consultancy I built from a small startup generating $30,000 in annual revenue into a successful business reaching $1.6 million annually, sustained for nearly a decade.

Working with clients across Canada, the United States and Europe, I provided consulting expertise in engineering technology, advanced manufacturing, product development, process improvement and technology implementation. My experience spans aerospace, space systems, automotive, industrial manufacturing and consumer product development, combining technical expertise with the practical experience of building, managing and growing a successful consulting business.

In 2021, I sold Spirit of Innovation to Maya HTT, my largest industry competitor, marking the successful conclusion of a decade of entrepreneurship and business development. After the acquisition, I stayed on for two and a half years in a consulting and advisory capacity, supporting the transition, sharing institutional knowledge, and providing continuity for clients and ongoing projects.

Luxury Fashion

Brand - Meglio & Meglio

My luxury fashion experience includes building an independent apparel brand and working internationally across garment design, collection development, manufacturing, sourcing, and brand development. With a particular focus on Italy, I built relationships with luxury fabric suppliers and private-label manufacturers, navigating the sourcing and supply-chain requirements of bringing premium apparel to market.

Consulting - Apparel & Softgoods

Beyond design and production, my work extended into brand positioning, packaging, product presentation and the complete customer experience. From selecting fabrics and manufacturing partners to product delivery, unboxing, and post-sale communication, I treated each element as an opportunity to reinforce the brand's identity, communicate quality, and build lasting customer relationships.

This experience brought together creative direction, international supplier management and the commercial realities of developing and operating an independent fashion brand.

Brand - Shawn Hudson Fragrance

Shawn Hudson Fragrance is an independent fragrance house I'm building from the ground up, bringing together scent creation, product design, storytelling and the art of building a distinctive luxury brand. At the centre of the venture is my private fragrance development laboratory, where I'm exploring raw materials, studying fragrance composition and developing original scents through experimentation, formulation and refinement.

Working alongside consulting perfumers, I'm rapidly expanding my technical understanding of perfumery, combining professional guidance with a hands-on approach to scent development. It's a fascinating balance of chemistry, intuition and creative expression, where individual ingredients become something far more complex, personal and evocative.

Beyond the fragrance itself, I'm developing every aspect of the brand, from bottle architecture and packaging to visual identity, product presentation and the customer experience. This ongoing venture brings together my background in engineering, product development and creative direction, with a particular fascination for the relationship between scent, memory and human connection.
